The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is asking residents to review plans for the Route 850 (Landisburg Road) bridge replacement project online through Sept. 10.

The project is in the design phase, and the plans introduce the project to the public while soliciting questions or concerns.

The Landisburg Road bridge spans an unnamed Sherman Creek tributary in Carroll Township, Perry County.

The project will address the bridge’s structural deficiencies by replacing it with a Precast Concrete Box Culvert.

Work is expected to take place during the 2024 construction season. PennDOT will avoid lengthy detours by creating a temporary two-lane roadway downstream of the existing bridge, connecting Route 850 to the Route 34 intersection. A portion of Dromgold Drive will be closed between Route 850 and the Grace Evangelical Christian Church.

To view the plans and comment virtually, residents should visit PennDOT District 8, click on Public Meetings listed under the Resources heading, choose the Perry County box, and then the tile marked PA 850 over Unnamed Tributary to Shermans Creek.

PennDOT also released plans for three other Perry County bridge projects: the Route 34 bridge in Centre Township, the Carlisle Street bridge in New Bloomfield Borough, and the Shermans Valley Road bridge in Spring Township.
