Idaho receives more than $30M in RAISE grants

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently awarded Idaho nearly $30.9 million in Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant funding.

The RAISE program funds projects modernizing roads, bridges, rail, ports, and intermodal transportation.

The Idaho Transportation Department was awarded $12.4 million for Wood River Valley Mobility Corridor Improvements. The project will improve transit-oriented infrastructure at four intersections along ID-75 in the Wood River Valley Mobility Corridor. Improvements include bus pullouts, bus stops, park-n-ride, passenger shelters, and sidewalks.

Valley Regional Transit was awarded $8.5 million for the State Street Premium Corridor. The project will build bicycle, pedestrian, and transit facilities along six and one-half miles of State Street/SH 44 from downtown Boise to Bogart Lane. Work includes adding accessible bus stops, wheelchair ramps and access, and street crossings.

The Ada County Highway District was awarded $5 million for the Access to Opportunity Planning Project. The project will plan and design 12 multimodal transportation projects over 10.5 miles. Work includes building multi-use paths and designated bike facilities, implementing ADA-accessible pedestrian ramps and signals, and upgrading transit bus stops.

The city of Nampa received $5 million for the Reconnecting Accessibility and Improving Safety and Equity project that will design local and regional connections in the North Nampa Neighborhood.
