Several members of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) plan to attend the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture, the world’s largest annual general aviation fly-in event, in Oshkosh, Wisc., July 25-31 to provide safety presentations and meet the public.
“We look for every opportunity to advocate for aviation safety and this event, the nation’s largest gathering of aviation enthusiasts, is a fantastic opportunity to share our safety recommendations,” NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said. “We need all parts of the aviation industry engaged to make our skies safer.”
NTSB air safety investigators will present a “Fly Like a Pro” safety presentation series that focuses on pilot professionalism. It is based on lessons learned from recent NTSB accident investigations. The goal is to help attendees implement a safety-first culture. Topics include airplane occupant protection systems, air traffic control communications, aviation weather, inflight loss-of-control, flight instruction, and managing aeromedical risks.
Dr. Loren Groff , NTSB chief data scientist, will demonstrate how to get the most out of CAROL, the agency’s aviation accident database.
The NTSB will host an exhibit booth in the Federal Pavilion, located in Exhibit Hangar D on the EAA AirVenture grounds, where staff will to meet the public and answer questions about investigations and processes, and careers.
