The Michigan Department of Transportation recently began repair work on three bridges as part of the Rebuilding Our Bridges program.
“We are setting up orange cones at record pace as we make the largest investment in state roads and bridges in Michigan’s history thanks to the bipartisan Building Michigan Together Plan and my Rebuilding Our Bridges program,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said. “Let’s keep fixing our roads with the right mix and materials, so they stay fixed, and support good-paying jobs along the way to power our economy to new highs.”
Work on the Dennis Road bridge at Doan Creek in Ingham County began Tuesday and is expected to last 60 days.
Work on the Palms Road bridge at Belle River in St. Clair County also began Tuesday and will last 90 days.
Work on the 26 Mile Road bridge at North Branch Clinton River in Macomb County is scheduled to begin July 25 and will last 90 days.
The Rebuilding Our Bridges pilot program will repair 19 bridges in serious or critical condition owned by local agencies. The bridges will have the bridge deck and supporting beams removed and replaced.
The agency will cover several bridge locations under one contract to streamline coordination and permitting.
