The Arizona Department of Transportation recently submitted an application for an approximately $65 million Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant through the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

Funding would be used to expedite planned improvement projects on US 93 between Wickenburg and Interstate 40 to enhance safety.

The state would match funding. When combined with other federal funds, ADOT potentially has more than $200 million for this project.

US 93 between Wickenburg and Kingman has been designated as the future Interstate 11.

Over the last several years, ADOT has invested nearly $500 million to widen and improve US 93 in this region to transform the highly traveled route into a four-lane divided highway. There are fewer than 40 miles of US 93 between Wickenburg and I-40 that remain a two-lane highway.

The US 93 between Wickenburg and Interstate 40 project would complement work ADOT already completed. The completed work includes a three-mile stretch of the highway near Cane Springs, four and a half miles near Big Jim Wash, and three miles near Vista Royale.

These projects widened more than 10 miles of US 93 to a four-lane divided highway. They will help prepare Arizona and the region for increased population growth and economic and freight activity.
