The ZIM e-Commerce Baltimore Express (ZXB) is the Port of Baltimore’s newest container line service, providing service from China and Southeast Asia.
“We are proud and happy to mark the first arrival of our new ZXB line to Baltimore,” ZIM President and CEO Eli Glickman said. “ZXB is part of a wider vision for ZIM—to provide efficient, fast, and innovative logistic solutions to our customers, especially during a period of severe supply chain disruptions. The Port of Baltimore offers unique opportunities to make our vision a reality.”
The line is part of Israel-based ZIM Shipping Lines, an ocean carrier container company. The company operates a fleet of nearly 100 vessels with trade lanes in the Transpacific, Cross Atlantic, Cross Suez, Intra-Asia, and Latin America.
ZXB will begin with bi-weekly service and increase to weekly within a few months.
The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration worked with Ports America Chesapeake, a public-private partner, to bring ZIM to Baltimore.
The port also recently welcomed the Mediterranean Shipping Co., a new Indian Subcontinent and Mediterranean service.
The Port of Baltimore is the largest e-commerce port in the United States and one of the busiest ports. It ranks 11th among foreign cargo handled.
