The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is seeking nominations for the Transit Advisory Committee for Safety (TRACS).

It will select up to 25 individuals from the public transportation safety community to serve as members.

“The FTA is seeking some of the top experts in the transit industry to help keep millions of daily rail transit riders safe,” FTA Administrator Nuria Fernandez said. “Once selected, these professionals will help inform our safety agenda for transit systems across the nation.”

TRACS provides information, advice, and recommendations relating to the safety of public transportation systems. The committee will comprise a panel of professionals representing a variety of stakeholders and interests. Members will serve a two-year term.

Applicants must have experience in the rail transit and/or bus transit industry and be knowledgeable of trends and issues related to rail transit and/or bus transit safety.

Applicants will be evaluated and selected based on the overall balance of industry representation, region of the country represented, and leadership and organizational skills.

Applications must be submitted by March 9.

The FTA published the notification on Monday, and application information can be found on the TRACS webpage.

The new TRACS charter calls for the review of challenges and innovations in public transportation.
