The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) completed 117 projects and put 101 projects out for bid in 2021, according to a report highlighting the agency’s accomplishments.
The agency’s other accomplishments include completing 10 projects and putting 19 projects out to bid from its 10-Year Plan. A total of 41.4 percent of the projects in the plan are complete or in progress.
“We are proud to have developed a 10-Year Plan that reflected the needs of Coloradans across the state,” CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew said. “Now we are delivering on that vision. For example, because the 10-Year Plan places unprecedented priority on fixing rural roads, many of which hadn’t been touched in decades, we delivered over 600 miles of rural road improvement this year when combining capital projects with our base program, including the hard work of our own maintenance division.”
In 2021, CDOT worked on seven major transportation projects and delivered 50 projects ahead of schedule. Major projects included the early opening of Express Lanes on the Interstate 25 South Gap Project between Castle Rock and Monument and expanding the central portion of Interstate 70 through Denver.
This year, CDOT plans to spend nearly $1 billion on construction.
