Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf recently announced how the state will use its portion of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding allocated to each state is based on a formula.

“These critical investments, along with state-level solutions, will help close Pennsylvania’s growing transportation funding gap, connect Pennsylvanians to opportunities and each other, and move our commonwealth forward,” Wolf said. “I look forward to the benefits this historic investment will provide in modernizing our infrastructure for the future of Pennsylvania.”

Plan highlights include:

A total of $11.3 billion would be used for federal-aid highway apportioned programs.

A total of $2.8 billion over five years would be used for improving public transportation options.

A total of $1.6 billion would be used for bridge replacement and repairs.

A total of $1.4 billion over five years would be used to improve water infrastructure and ensure clean, safe drinking water.

A total of $355 million over five years would be used for infrastructure improvements at airports.

A total of $171 million over five years will be used to support the expansion of an electric vehicle charging network.

A minimum allocation of $100 million to help provide broadband coverage.

A total of $49 million over five years will be used to protect against wildfires.
