Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the recently negotiated bipartisan infrastructure deal provides record funding for New York infrastructure.

Billions of dollars in federal funds will go toward New York infrastructure projects like water and sewers, as well as airports, subways, roads, and bridges will receive long-awaited investments to meet growing demand, boost the economy and safely move both people and goods across the state and beyond.

“The bipartisan infrastructure deal will be a record building, and jobs boon for critical New York needs from Massena to Massapequa, and everywhere in between,” Schumer said. “Whether it’s the needs of the MTA, projects like Gateway, the Second Avenue subway, the East River Tunnels, Penn Access, and others, this deal represents massive investments that will rebuild and revive the Empire State’s infrastructure. From clean drinking water to upgraded sewer to repairing bridges and subway tunnels, there is more work to be done, but billions are on the way to move on it, create good jobs and advance critical projects.”

The deal includes more than $1.5 billion for bridge repairs and nearly $1 billion for New York’s airports. Also includes was $$142 million for EV charging infrastructure, $30 billion for Amtrak and the Northeast Corridor, and $12 billion for the development of intercity passenger rail.

A bipartisan group of senators reached an agreement with the Biden Administration over the $1 trillion infrastructure spending bill on Thursday. The Senate voted to take up the act and begin work on it the same day.
