The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) recently opened the bidding period for the Coatesville Train Station.

The Federal Transit Administration and state transportation funds will fund the project, which is scheduled to begin construction in the fall and complete in 2025.

The selected contractor will build a modern train station with improved connections to the Keystone Corridor. The station must be ADA accessible and include surface parking for local and regional commuters, level boarding platforms, elevators, site lighting, improved drainage, ramps, and security.

Once completed, the train station will contribute to the community’s ongoing economic development efforts, ensure freight movements through the station area are maintained, and enhance multimodal connectivity.

A pre-bid meeting will be held virtually on July 27 for interested contractors.

To be considered, contractors must submit their bid through PennDOT’s Engineering and Construction Management System and be registered business partners with PennDOT. Questions also must be submitted electronically.

PennDOT led multiple planning efforts in the Coatesville community before the design stage to identify strategies that would revitalize the area surrounding the proposed train station.

Streetscape projects completed in 2019 and 2020 improved access from Coatesville’s downtown area to the proposed new train station location.
