Ford Motor Co. recently acquired Electriphi, a California-based technology company, for an undisclosed amount.
Electriphi is a provider of charging management and fleet monitoring software for electric vehicles. Its employees and services will be integrated into Ford Pro, a business committed to commercial customer productivity and developing advanced charging and energy management.
According to Ford Pro estimates, by 2030, the depot charging industry is forecasted to reach more than 600,000 full-size trucks and vans. The purchase of Electriphi will allow the company to capture more than $1 billion of revenue from charging by 2030.
The Electriphi charging platform will be offered to commercial customers, including e-telematics solutions, public charging, and employee home charging.
“As commercial customers add electric vehicles to their fleets, they want depot charging options to make sure they’re powered up and ready to go to work every day,” Ted Cannis, Ford Pro CEO, said. “With Electriphi’s existing advanced technology IP in the Ford Pro electric vehicles and services portfolio, we will enhance the experience for commercial customers and be a single-source solution for fleet-depot charging.”
The deal is expected to close this month.
Electriphi employs 30 people. The company developed and deployed a purpose-built charging management platform and electric vehicle fleet that saves energy costs and tracks key operational metrics.
