U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) announced his local transportation priority projects to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as part of the 2021 reauthorization of federal surface transportation legislation.
His Member Designated Project (MDP) will set the priorities for transportation funding in the state.
“I submitted projects for funding that I am confident will improve transportation for residents across the Tenth District and, at the same time, shrink our district’s carbon footprint,” Schneider said. “In making this year’s selections, I prioritized projects that would help a broad cross-section of our district, regardless of location, background, or mode of transportation. Everyone from drivers to bus riders to bikers and Metra commuters will benefit from these projects, and I hope that the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure will prioritize these projects for funding.”
The projects and funding requests include:
• $508,080 for the city of Chicago, for its North Chicago Pace Bus Route Access at Lovell Federal Health Care Center
• $9,794,640 for Lake County’s Patriot Bike Path, Stage 1 and Stage 4 funding
• $2,000,000 for the village of Glenview and Illinois Department of Transportation’s IL-21 Milwaukee Ave Improvements
• $920,320 for the City of Zion for its Zion 27th Street Resurfacing project
• And $6,000,000 for Metra Commuter Rail’s Metra Zero Emissions Vehicle Pilot project in the Chicago area.
