Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) recently released its annual Pennsylvania State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) year-end report.

The 2020 report outlines how the STIC is working to transform transportation in the state and emphasizes the importance of transportation stakeholders working together to implement improvements.

“Despite the challenges we all face dealing with the ongoing pandemic and moving the transportation agenda forward, we have much to be proud of,” PennDOT Secretary and STIC co-chair Yassmin Gramian said. “The Pennsylvania STIC is unwavering in advancing innovations, and its enduring success is pivotal to maintaining a safe and effective transportation network.”

In 2020, the STIC advanced several innovations. These include the Stormwater Management Training and Field Guidebook, the Certified Concrete Finishers Course, Predictive Work Zone Analysis, and Hot Pour Mastics.

Another innovation, Snowplow and Automated Vehicle Location, is in STIC’s innovation development process.

The report also features several videos, including those about newly introduced innovations, updates on innovations currently under development, Every Day Counts initiatives, partnerships and successes, and STIC Incentive Program project introductions and updates.

The STIC was created in 2012 and supports and promotes the deployment of the Federal Highway Administration’s Every Day Counts innovations. It is comprised of a diverse team of transportation stakeholders.
