The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has joined three other entities seeking public input regarding plans to modernize the Interstate 270 corridor.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHA), Commerce City, and Adams County have joined CDOT in developing potential solutions designed to move people and freight safely and reliably through the I-270, connecting interstates 70 and 25.
Authorities indicated an online virtual event that began on Dec. 2 and slated to be conducted through Dec. 27. It includes information on the I-270 modernization and means of better accommodating growing highway corridor transportation demands.
The highway was built 50 years ago, officials indicated,. Traffic volumes have since surpassed capacity and pavement conditions and structures have aged and need major improvements.
The Denver region’s inner beltway has evolved into a commerce corridor of commerce, attracting companies in the energy, advanced manufacturing, and logistics sectors.
