Minnesota officials are extending gratitude to the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Trump Administration for commitment to the state’s infrastructure projects.
In June, Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) announced the DOT awarded Anoka County a $40 million grant for constructing two new grade-separated county highway overpasses of US Highway 10/169 and the parallel freight and commuter rail line. Additionally, in September, Emmer announced the DOT awarded $15 million for an infrastructure project in Anoka.
“It is wonderful that the northwest Metro is finally getting these needed upgrades,” State Sen. Jim Abeler (R-Dist. 35) said. “Kudos to the leadership of the Emmer team and so many others who have worked on this for so long.”
Scott Schulte, Anoka County Board of Commissioners chairman, said the $15 million funding allotment was essential in advancing the county’s project.
“We thank Rep. Emmer for his efforts in urging the Department of Transportation to allocate this funding,” he said. “These integral interchanges and bridges in the City of Anoka will be much improved following the repairs and upgrades, in terms of safety and overall mobility.”
Ramsey, Minnesota Mayor John LeTourneau said he is grateful the US Trunk Highway 10 project in Ramsey will be receiving a $40 million grant to help complete the project.
“The cities of Ramsey and Anoka have worked diligently with Anoka County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation to make sure this vital transportation lifeline received funding,” he said. “We want to thank Congressman Emmer for continuing to lead this fight for our residents and businesses of Anoka County and the surrounding region.”
