Following the release of NEXTransit, the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s long-term transit plan for the region, the agency will run online meetings as a forum for public feedback.
The plan highlights who the port authority serves, where and when it should operate, and what projects should be given priority over the next 25 years so the agency knows where to focus funding. It was developed through a collaborative process with partner agencies and public input.
“NEXTransit will give us the opportunity to inspire, innovate and implement ideas that promote a robust transit network that is accessible, equitable, reliable, flexible, comprehensive and safe,” Katharine Kelleman, Port Authority CEO, said. “Whether it’s an extension of a busway, adding more trips to an underserved community, or placing greater importance on alternative-fuel vehicles, we want to hear what riders and non-riders want from their public transit system.”
The agency will host two online meetings daily on July 27, Aug. 6, and Aug. 25.
The port authority encourages Allegheny County residents to attend.

Residents who cannot attend can participate in phone-based surveys and in-person community visits that will be conducted later this summer.
The agency launched NEXTransit on June 1.
