The Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) appointment of Samuel Johnson as the interim chief executive officer has garnered praise from the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA).

“Samuel’s background and experience in managing all facets of transportation and infrastructure systems, including a transit planning and development agency, transit operator, a multi-modal regional planning agency, combined with his success at TCA, gives him all the necessary skills and building blocks to successfully lead TCA’s bright future,” Pat Jones, executive director and CEO of IBTTA said of Johnson, the
IBTTA’s president.

Johnson joined TCA in 2015 as Chief Toll Operations Officer, charged with responsibility and oversight for tolling systems, customer service, revenue management, violation processing, toll compliance, customer experience communications, and information technology functions.

“I have worked closely with Samuel as a member of IBTTA, Board of Directors and Executive Committee,” said Chris Tomlinson, executive director of State Road and Tollway Authority in Atlanta, Ga., and IBTTA immediate past president. “I have every confidence in Samuel to step in and lead TCA. His ability to understand complex and challenging issues, his public service, his leadership abilities, and dynamic management style will make for a smooth transition.”

Johnson said he is honored by the selection and looks forward to leading the TCA’s talented team.

“Ensuring the health and safety of our customers, our staff and their families; and aligning our efforts with the Boards’ vision and goals are key priorities and I look forward to addressing the challenges ahead of us,” he said.
