The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will host a virtual public hearing and board meeting on April 17 to garner feedback for future bridge and roadway preservation projects.
The 2021-2025 Tentative Five-Year Transportation Facilities Construction Program serves as the proposed annual update to ADOT’s lineup of all statewide projects – allocating funding for preservation, modernization, and expansion projects.
The session begins at 9 a.m. and is accessible via telephone and web conference, per ADOT, with the agenda and directions for participating currently available on the State Transportation Board website.
The five-year proposal seeks to allocate an average of $310 million annually for bridge and roadway preservation throughout the statewide highway system, officials said, moving the agency closer to its goal of allocating $320 million per year for preservation.
Repaving highways, filling potholes, extending the life cycle of existing pavement and repairing or reconstructing bridges are within the preservation scope, authorities indicated.
Anyone interested in making a comment before the board is required to complete and submit a comment request form before 8 a.m. on April 17. The form is also available on the board’s website. There will not be an opportunity for members of the public to attend or comment in person.
