Iowa Governor Kay Reynolds has appointed Scott Marler to serve as the state’s new Department of Transportation (IDOT) director.
“Scott will do an outstanding job leading the Iowa Department of Transportation because of his depth of experience and effective management style,” Reynolds said. “Iowa DOT plays an instrumental role in the safe transportation of goods, services, and people across our state, and we know he will do an incredible job.”
Marler previously served as IDOT’s Director of the Operations Division and has served on a national technical committee for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, an expert panel for TRB, and a course development committee for the National Highway Institute.
“I’m tremendously humbled and honored to be chosen by Gov. Reynolds to join her team as Director of the Iowa Department of Transportation,” Marler said. “I look forward to serving the citizens of our great state with the incredibly talented team at the Iowa DOT and to work with our partners and stakeholders to meet our common goal of making Iowa the safest and most efficient transportation system in the country.”
Marler has been with the Iowa DOT for 22 years and has garnered experience within the realm of traffic operations, highway project development, regulatory compliance, and the natural environment.
