The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is seeking the public’s input regarding the agency’s 2020-2023 draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

The STIP, which is a four-year plan for the state’s surface transportation improvements receiving partial or full federal aid funding, contains proposed road, bridge, marine highway, and transit projects open to public travel.

The plan is required by the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act in order for the state to receive federal highway and transit funding.

A public session has been slated in Juneau on March 5 at the Valley Public Library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Public comments can also be submitted through Friday, March 20.

The FAST Act has earmarked nearly $500 million annually for Alaska transportation priorities per the DOT&PF, noting STIP projects are primarily federally funded, but require an approximate 9 percent match from Alaska to leverage federal funding.
