Samuel Johnson, chief toll operations officer for the Transportation Corridor Agencies, took office last month as president of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA).

IBTTA, the organization for the owners and operators of toll facilities, elected Johnson at their annual meeting in Nova Scotia, Canada, in September.

The Transportation Corridor Agencies is comprised of the San Joaquin Hills and Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agencies.

“Samuel will bring his bold leadership and vision to our association and industry,” Patrick D. Jones, IBTTA executive director and CEO, said. “Around the world, tolling is providing greater mobility options for millions of customers. Samuel’s service begins at a critical time when communities and nations worldwide are looking at new ways to fund and finance vital transportation infrastructure.”

Mark Compton was also elected to serve as IBTTA’s first vice-president.

Compton is Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission CEO and will serve as IBTTA president next year.

“In Pennsylvania and around the world, tolling is providing greater mobility options for millions of customers,” Jones said. “Mark’s extensive work in transportation comes at a critical time when communities and nations worldwide are looking at new ways to fund and finance vital transportation infrastructure.”

IBBTA has members in 23 countries worldwide.
