The National Transportation Safety Board is swearing in two new members this month, bringing the board to its full complement of five members for the first time in nearly a year.
A certified airline pilot, Michael Graham is the former director of flight operations safety, security, and standardization for Textron Aviation and the former chairman of the Air Charter Safety Foundation. He also has served on the General Aviation Information Analysis Team and the Single Pilot Safety Working Group of the National Business Aviation Association’s Safety Committee.
Graham began his career in the U.S. Navy flying A-7s and F/A-18s and, as a civilian, worked for
Boeing/McDonnell Douglas and Cessna. He will serve through 2025.
Thomas Chapman, sworn in this week, is the former minority counsel to the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation and Space and the former legislative counsel for Southwest Airlines. Chapman also previously served as senior vice president for government and technical affairs for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and as US Airways’ vice president for government affairs.
He will serve through the end of 2023.
President Donald J. Trump nominated Graham and Chapman, and the Senate confirmed them last month.
