The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has dispersed $18 million to five projects as part of their Transportation Economic Development Program, along with $2.86 million for three additional projects in Mankato, Minnesota, as well as Sherburne County and Minneapolis.
The five highway projects involve work on the interchange at Highway 36 and Manning Avenue in Washington County, reconstruction of Highway 41 in downtown Chaska, construction on the Dayton Parkway Interchange on I-94, a mix of separated interchange, additional frontage road and access ramp work along Highway 13 in the City of Savage, lastly, the addition of a reduced conflict intersection on Highway 33 and Gillette Road in the City of Cloquet.
“The Transportation Economic Development (TED) program is an effective collaboration between state and local units of government to help deliver infrastructure improvements that enhance business growth opportunities around Minnesota,” MnDOT Commissioner Margaret Anderson Kelliher said. “These transportation partnerships help build networks and promote job creation in our communities.”
These projects will create hundreds of jobs over the coming five years, according to MnDOT, and bring major additions and efficiency changes to the region. The supporting TED funds stem from a mix of federal, state, local, and private funding to the tune of $124 million, though a total of $20 million was available for the projects involved in this round.
