The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) announced its 2019-2020 executive board at the organization’s 88th annual Convention and Trade Show last week in St. Paul, Minn.

The board is comprised of state aviation directors or their selected representatives. John Binder, from the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF), was elected chairman.

“I congratulate John for this achievement,” John MacKinnon, DOT&PF commissioner, said. “The NASAO organization is a huge advocate for airport funding in America and having John leading this board is good for aviation in Alaska.”

DOT&PF oversees more than 5,600 miles of highway, 239 airports, 10 ferries serving 35 communities, and 776 public facilities throughout Alaska.

Other members of the executive board are Vice Chairman Bobby Walston from North Carolina, Treasurer Anthony McCloskey from Pennsylvania, Secretary Dave Ulane from Colorado, and Immediate Past Chairwoman Cassandra Isackson from Minnesota.

The new members of the board were announced during the Awards Dinner Ceremony and a gavel was passed from Isackson to Binder.

NASAO also announced its selections for the 2019–2020 NASAO Regional Board at the trade show. Members include Dr. Jeff DeCarlo, from Massachusetts, representing the New England Region, and Mark Flynn, from Virginia, representing the Eastern Region.
