The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has begun a new Missouri Road and Bridge program, an online resource meant to better communicate to the public how Missouri’s road and bridge revenues will be invested over the next five years.

The program document is coupled with an interactive map to highlight project information in a visual format. The map will let visitors click on specific projects throughout the state to pull up more information about upcoming work. All this information is drawn from the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) approved by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission last month.

“The STIP is a federally required planning document with content defined by federal regulations,” Transportation Planning Director Machelle Watkins said. “While federal regulations specify it is a public document, it contains a large amount of complex information that is not always easy to understand for our customers and planning partners.”
