As of last week, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is looking for partners interested in two upcoming projects for the interstate.
Their Notice of Intent (NOI) concerned a new design-build project for the I-10 and I-12 College Flyover Ramp, as well as a new public-private partnership project for the construction of LA 3241 in St. Tammany Parish. The former seeks new, dedicated exit ramps from the I-10 and I-12 mainlines east of where I-10 and I-12 merge, thereby improving the interstate’s westbound traffic flow.
The latter will yield an entirely new four-lane highway that connects I-12 to Bush, Louisiana. At a minimum, the DOTD seeks a two-lane creation, though the whole project will be reliant on timing and funding availability. If successful, it will establish 19.8 miles of new highway.
“This is another example of this administration using innovative procurement tools to address much-needed infrastructure improvements,” DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson said. “States across the nation have been using design-build and public-private partnerships to improve infrastructure. This flyover ramp is much needed for safety and to help ease congestion in a major urban area. Additionally, the completion of LA 3241 will be a shining example of how innovative procurement tools can be utilized in rural areas.”
Letters of interest are due with the DOTD by Aug. 8.
