The Virginia Department of Transportation, the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation are seeking public feedback on the Interstate 95 corridor between the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Alexandria, Va., and the North Carolina border.
The agencies, under the direction of the Commonwealth Transportation Board, are conducting a data-driven study to develop the I-95 corridor. The study will identify critical problems and identify potential solutions as well as areas for additional review and research.
Meetings will be conducted throughout Virginia this summer and fall. The next two sessions will be held in Fredericksburg today and in Petersburg Thursday.
After a presentation, attendees will have access to online materials and will have the opportunity to speak with study team members, ask questions, and provide written comments. Attendees also will be able to identify specific areas of concern on project boards.
There will be three rounds of meetings. The first series will focus on identifying issues along the corridor, such as incidents that close interstate travel for longer than one hour, crash severity, crash frequency, and delay. The second series will focus on solutions, and the third series will focus on recommended improvements.
Findings will be reported to the General Assembly in December.
