The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently issued a Request for Information for the design and development of JFK Central at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The request seeks feedback from firms specializing in the design, develop and operation of multi-use commercial developments or large-scale public spaces.

JFK Central is an approximately 14-acre, mixed-use space that is part of the airport’s redevelopment. It will be built on the new Ground Transportation Center located in the middle of JFK Airport.

The site will serve as an area for commercial and recreational public space for travelers and airport employees. It will be accessible from the new Terminal 1 and Terminal 4 in the southern half of the Central Terminal Area.

Firms are asked to submit ideas and concepts for either the commercial space or the public space or both.

“We are moving ahead with a $13 billion transformation plan that will fundamentally reimagine the airport for the 21st century, and as part of that effort JFK Central will create a more unified airport and further solidify New York’s position as the premier entry point into our country for the rest of the world,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

Redevelopment of the airport began last year.
