Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the fiscal year 2019-2020 budget last week that includes $10.8 billion for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The “Bold Vision for a Brighter Future” is a $91.3 billion budget addressing many of the state’s critical issues including hurricane recovery, Everglades restoration, and tax cuts.

FDOT’s portion of the budget includes $9.7 billion for the State Transportation Work Program and $668.1 million for public transportation programs.

The State Transportation Work Program works to improve airports, bridges, highways, and seaports.

“By signing the Bold Vision for a Brighter Future budget, the Florida Department of Transportation will continue their efforts to enhance safety for motorists by relieving congestion on our roadways and implementing technology which will improve and modernize Florida’s infrastructure,” DeSantis said. “This investment reflects the dedication of addressing one of the most pressing issues facing our state. I am committed to making life better for all residents and visitors of our great state, and the Bold Vision for a Brighter Future budget will continue to make Florida a leader in transportation systems.”

Other funding in the budget includes $1.1 billion for maintenance and operation of existing infrastructure and $1.1 billion for the repair of 84 and the replacement of 22 bridges.
