The Ford Motor Company is expanding the reach of a non-emergency medical transportation business known as GoRide Health, taking it from Ohio to a national audience.
The company intends to expand outside of Ohio, beginning with Florida. Next year, it plans to grow into North Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, and California as well. Urban-based, the company boasted a 95 percent on-time rate through the first quarter of the year, and expect to be delivering thousands of rides to and from medical appointments per day in six cities by the end of 2019.
“GoRide Health is gaining momentum because it is a reliable, human-centered service for people whose very lives depend on making their medical appointments,” Minyang Jiang, CEO of GoRide Health, said. “Despite a critical and growing need across our country, most patients are unable to find reliable transportation and drivers who understand their needs. GoRide Health can fill that gap.”
The service is meant for the general public, but it is focused on filling accessibility gaps, particularly for those with disabilities. They also assist city transit agencies. All of GoRide’s drivers are HIPAA compliant and trained to help such passengers. The service also makes use of Ford’s routing technology for automatic dispatch and pool rides.
