U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber’s (R-MN) Notice to Airmen Improvement Act, which would revamp aviation safety through demanding clearer safety notifications to pilots, has advanced the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Its advancement moves forward legislative efforts to improve the safety of the U.S. skies. Stauber is now the first freshman Congressman, from either party, to get a bill out of the committee this Congress.
“Modern air travel is incredibly safe, but in order to keep it that way, we must constantly work to update and improve upon safety protocols,” Stauber said. “I’m glad that my colleagues on the Committee agree, and I look forward to seeing this bill pass through the full House soon.”
Stauber claims the bill could rectify inadequacies among the existing Notice to Airmen system. That is the system which alerts pilots of potential hazards along various flight routes or locations of import. Specifically, the bill would create a Federal Aviation Association (FAA) taskforce to determine the improvements the system needs.
