The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority (Port of Cleveland) elected Jan Roller chairwoman of the board of directors at its March meeting.

Roller is the first woman to hold the position.

The board also elected two other women to hold leadership roles on the board. Patricia Ramsey was elected vice chairwoman and director Harriet Applegate was elected secretary/fiscal officer.

“We are so proud of our board and our board leadership,” Will Friedman, Cleveland-Cuyahoga Port Authority president, said. “All three new officers are very accomplished professionals, leaders and public servants, whom happen to be women. We are very excited to work with our new board leadership and look forward to a successful 2019 shipping season.”

Roller is a Case Western Reserve University School of Law graduate and has sat on several boards and committees throughout her career.

Ramsey is vice president of community and economic development for Fifth Third Bank in Northeastern Ohio, and Applegate is executive secretary of the North Shore Federation of Labor.

The board of directors also discussed the Port of Cleveland’s new partnership with Logistec, a company that will operate the general cargo terminal.

A Logistec spokesman presented the company’s goals and vision for the partnership.
