Modernization projects on Elmira Corning Regional Airport and Plattsburgh International Airport have been completed, according to a recent announcement by New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.
The Elmira Corning project cost $61.5 million. It enlarged the terminal by approximately 60 percent, added another jet bridge and 300 parking spaces, and added food and beverage options.
The Plattsburgh International Airport project cost $42.9 million. The project included the installation of an additional passenger boarding bridge, four electric vehicle charging stations and a cell phone parking lot. The parking lot also was rehabilitated.
Both airports feature Taste NY grab-and-go kiosks, which offer passengers locally made foods and beverages.
“I’m proud of the marketing opportunities that the Taste NY program provides our New York farms and food and beverage businesses,” Richard A. Ball, state agriculture commissioner, said. “Since the Governor created the program five years ago, Taste NY has grown to include more producers and has significantly increased the number of locations where consumers can find delicious and unique New York products. By including Taste NY in each of the State’s newly reconstructed airports, we’re helping to boost the exposure of our local producers and expand their reach to new markets.”
The airport improvements are part of the state’s investments in infrastructure.
