Georgia Power recently partnered with rideshare company Lyft to promote electric vehicle (EV) driving.
The partnership’s pilot program will give incentives for EV driving by providing a $500 bonus to qualified EV drivers who sign up for Lyft now through Nov. 21. The bonus will be paid once the driver completes 30 rides within 30 consecutive days.
“We are committed to developing new partnerships and programs that assist customers with their EV energy needs and advancing Georgia as an EV-friendly state,” Ervan Hancock, Georgia Power director for electric transportation programs, said. “We’re excited to partner with Lyft to help inspire rideshare drivers in Georgia to consider the benefits of driving electric.”
The goal of the partnership is to expose more Georgians to EVs and break misperceptions, Sam Bond, Lyft Southeast general manager, said.
Georgia Power also has installed 36 public EV charging locations across the state. The charging stations feature multiple options for EV drivers and accept either a Georgia Power Card or a ChargePoint card.
EV-driving business and residential customers qualify for rebates through the Get Current, Drive Electric program. They also qualify for the Plug-in Electric Vehicle charging rate which saves customers money by encouraging simple changes to electricity usage.
