To support a 2019 fall release of their latest Altima, Nissan is investing $170 million into assembly plants in Smyrna, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi.

The latest Altima will come to market with ProPILOT Assist Technology, a pair of new engines and the first available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system in a U.S.-based Nissan sedan. Nissan’s factory investment is creating new laser brazing systems in their body shops, updating their paint shops to provide more durable exterior appearances and calibrating equipment to guarantee the functionality of the ProPILOT addition.

“Nissan’s continued investment in our manufacturing facilities underpins our commitment to building top-quality vehicles in the U.S., as well as our valued workforce and the communities where we do business,” said Heath Holtz, senior vice president of Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing for Nissan North America, Inc.

When completed, the new Altima will be released in five separate levels. These can include the ProPILOT technology as well as Rear Automatic Braking, widened and lowered proportions, as well as revamped, opened up interior designs.
