Commercial truck provider Ryder System, Inc. bolstered options for its drivers and technicians this week through the addition of Uber Central to its Ryder Rental, Service, and Maintenance Managers in the United States and Canada.
Uber will now transport people to and from Ryder and its customers’ locations. Ryder hopes that Uber Central will allow them to identify trends and new opportunities among its pickup and delivery efforts.
“Ryder is always focused on enhancing its customer experience,” Rich Mohr, vice president and global product manager of Rental Operations for Ryder, said. “This new partnership enables us to do just that. With Uber Central, we’re able to improve routing and planning for our transfer drivers, save on fuel costs, and increase shop productivity. This exciting platform enhances our commercial transportation services and creates an added convenience for our customers.”
Uber Central differs from traditional Uber services as it tailors itself to organizations, allowing them to request, manage and pay for rides on a monthly rate, rather than a per-service cost. In this way, individual Ryder customers will not need to have an Uber account themselves or maintain the app on their phones to get the benefit of its service.
“We’re excited to see how innovative companies, such as Ryder, partner with Uber Central to evolve their operations and their customer experience to create a competitive advantage,” Brittany Wray, head of Uber Central, said.
