On Tuesday, Union Pacific Railroad announced it would give businesses additional connections to its network through five new Focus Sites.
The Focus Sites, large-scale development sites for customer-built warehouses or industrial facilities, will provide businesses with new opportunities to connect to the 32,000-mile rail network, officials said. The sites are railroad hubs where Union Pacific concentrates resources, manages logistics, and provides services for customers.
“Our team of regional experts specialize in finding you the best site to build your business,” Kenny Rocker, executive vice president for marketing and sales for Union Pacific, said. “We work with customers to understand their business needs and find solutions to win in the marketplace.”
Union Pacific has a total of 32 Focus Sites across its network with the five new sites in Shawnee, Okla.; Cedar City and Grantsville, Utah; and San Antonio and Texarkana, Texas. The five new sites have 15,000 available acres ready for development.
Union Pacific also provides a Site Solutions Tool with more than 6,000 potential properties located within 800 meters of its rail lines. The property listing are updated to give customers full visibility into available options to establish rail service with the company.
Union Pacific operates in 23 western states, delivering goods every day with safe, reliable and efficient service, the company said. Officials with the company said trains and transporting goods via rail are the most environmentally responsible way to move freight.
