Capital Development Partners, a Georgia-based industrial real estate and infrastructure developer, announced last week that it plans to build a nearly 1 million square foot rail development and mega facility in Savannah.
The $155 million infrastructure and facility, the Central Port Logistics Center with Plastic Express, will support the Georgia Ports Authority and become the largest Veteran owned and operated logistics company in the United States. The 982,800 square foot facility will offer packaging, warehousing, transloading, and storage capacity for more than 8,000 TEUs. Officials said it will create 200 direct jobs and 250 construction jobs.
“We are excited to develop the premier CSX rail-served building in the Savannah Gateway for Plastic Express, a world class operator and repeat customer,” John Knox Porter, CEO of Capital Development Partners, said. “This export facility will be highly efficient, add jobs, and allow US manufacturing to be highly competitive in the global markets.”
Central Port Logistics Center Building 11 will be a CSX rail-served site and will be part of Phase 1 of an industrial park that will cover 1,00 acres with 5.5 million square feet of warehouse. Officials said Savannah is the fastest growing port in the US market. The Central Port Logistics Center will be the fastest and most efficient location in Savannah, officials said, with access to Veterans Parkway and a direct route to port terminals with zero stoplights. Plastic Express and CSX said they plan to turn the facility 10 timers per day and export more than 150 metric tons of resin products.
