Airlines for America (A4A) on Tuesday presented two industry executives with its 2017 Engineering, Maintenance, and Material Council’s (EMMC) Nuts and Bolts Award, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding service and achievements in the engineering and maintenance fields within the aviation industry.
Winners of the 2017 award were presented to American Airlines’ Vice President of Engineering, Quality and Training, Dec Lee, and Boeing’s Vice President of Customer Support in the Americas, Larry Slate.
Most recently, Lee served in technical operations where he worked on the company’s Continuous Analysis Surveillance System (CASS), as well as serving in various engineering, quality control, and technical training capacities. In addition, Lee worked on reliability and fleet management in areas of aircraft maintenance. Lee also played a key role in the implementation of the American Airlines-U.S. Airways merger. Prior to his time at American, Lee served in various capacities at Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force.
Slate currently manages customer support for Boeing’s fleets throughout the Americas. Additionally, he leads lifecycle engineering and maintenance fleet management solutions for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Slate previously led introduction-to-service activities for Boeing’s B787 program.
