Austin Transportation recently launched a Data and Performance Hub designed to provide real-time data about signal operations in the city.

The information is available to the public, and new data and features will be added over time.

Austin residents will be able to access data on the locations of all traffic signals and whether they are functioning correctly. The information provided also includes where new signals are being designed and constructed; whether a request has been made to add a signal in a location and the status of the request; an overview of signal assets, activities, and operations; the status of a repair, traffic counts; traffic cameras; and maps.

“As transportation and tech get more intertwined, we’re reaffirming our commitment to open data,” Austin Transportation Director Robert Spillar said. “We recognize the power open data has to spur smart mobility innovation, and we want to keep everyone up to speed on the services we provide.”

Residents also have access to a list of public transportation data made available for download by Austin Transportation.

Open data and code from the city government are available on Austin’s GitHub account.

The population of Austin is expected to reach 4 million by 2040. This growth has made Austin Transportation seek ways to make travel through the city more efficient.
