The Kansas Commission on Aerospace Education (KCAE), a non-profit group that develops and encourages educational programs promoting the aviation industry, recently elected two new members to its board of directors. The members are from the Kansas Department of Transportation Division of Aviation.
Lindsey Dreiling was elected KCAE president, and Trever Linn was elected secretary.
“The Kansas Commission on Aerospace Education is a special organization,” Ed Young, former KCAE president, said. “Its membership includes pilots, educators, aviation business leaders and community leaders interested in aviation. With the election of Lindsey Dreiling as president, the mission of encouraging aviation educational and vocational programs has no limits.”
KCAE works with the Division of Aviation to expand aviation education across the state and address workforce shortage issues.
The division also awards scholarships and plans and helps fund both the Aviation Day at the Capitol, which was an exhibit held Feb. 9 at the statehouse in Topeka, and the Fly Kansas Air Tour.
The Fly Kansas Air Tour 2017 was held Sept. 28-30 at Wellington Municipal Airport. During the tour, four airports were visited, each focusing on a different aspect of aviation.
KCAE is headquartered in Topeka. The organization was founded in 1945 by Gov. Andrew Schoeppel.
