United Airlines adds non-stop service from Houston to Sydney

United Airlines recently announced it will begin daily, non-stop service between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Sydney on Jan. 18, pending government approval.

The flight would be United’s second longest at 8,596 miles. The airline also offers non-stop service to Sydney from Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.

“Our Houston hub is stronger than ever and it continues to be an absolutely vital part of our industry-leading network,” Scott Kirby, president of United Airlines, said. “We are honored to have served this vibrant city for nearly half a century, and this exciting intercontinental flight is one more way we are demonstrating United’s commitment to our customers who call Houston home as well as the millions of customers who connect through Houston each year. This new route will serve more than 70 cities across North America making one-stop service to Sydney faster and more convenient than ever before.”

The service will use Boeing’s 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. These aircraft are designed for comfort on long trips. Features include larger overhead bins, enhanced ventilation systems, and larger windows.

United Polaris business -class passengers will be provided with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, pajamas and amenity kits.

United Economy and United Economy Plus seats will also be available.
