A pair of undergraduate college students were recently selected by the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) as the first recipients for the newly launched IBTTA Foundation Scholarship Program.
The inaugural recipients of the awards are Miranda Simon, a civil engineering student at North Dakota State University, and Andrew Bunn, a civil engineering student at Old Dominion University.
The program provides a total of $5,000 to undergraduate students pursuing degrees in engineering, urban and regional planning, construction management, public administration, and transportation-related fields.
“We are thrilled to present these scholarships to support Miranda and Andrew in their studies,” Patrick Jones, executive director and CEO of IBTTA, said. “Transportation is an exciting and growing field and we hope these scholarships will encourage the next generation of transportation leaders.”
Each student will receive their awards during the opening ceremonies of IBTTA’s 85th Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia on September 11, 2017.
“The IBTTA Foundation believes in investing in young people to foster growth and innovation in the transportation industry for generations to come,” John McCuskey, IBTTA Foundation Chair, said.
The foundation’s scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, a designer and manager of education scholarships, tuition assistance and education support programs for a variety of corporations, foundations and individuals throughout the country.
