Boeing and China Airlines recently signed a memorandum for Boeing to provide technical support and maintenance training to the airline, and will also work to ensure China Airlines qualifies as an approved Boeing Global Fleet Care service provider and possibly as a Boeing Converted Freighter conversion site.
These roles are important to Boeing’s business as more airlines in Asia-Pacific are purchasing Boeing aircraft.
Asia-Pacific is Boeing’s largest market, and an estimated 40 percent of future sales will come from the region.
“China Airlines has been a very important partner to Boeing for more than five decades and this mutually beneficial collaboration will further enhance their capabilities in maintenance and engineering,” Ihssane Mounir, Boeing Commercial Airplanes senior vice president of sales and marketing, said. “This relationship will allow China Airlines to develop and deliver world-class maintenance service to global airline customers, while also adding value to Boeing’s network of global supplier partners.”
At the 2017 Paris Air Show held last month, Boeing received orders for 134 aircraft and commitments for 437 more.
As of June 1, Boeing has received more than 200 orders for the year.
The value of aircraft orders at the show, after discounts, for all aircraft manufacturers totaled between $63 billion and $69 billion.
