The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), a public/private partnership dedicating to preventing auto accidents, recently announced Consolidated Edison of New York (Con Edison) has joined the board of directors.
“Safety and operational excellence are at the core of everything we do to meet our customers’ energy needs, and roadway safety is no exception,” Gregg Slintak, Con Edison’s director of safety, industrial hygiene, and fire prevention, said. “Our dense urban driving environment demands unwavering focus, as well as strong commitment to the pursuit of continuous improvement. We’re pleased to join NETS Board of Directors and look forward to partnering with others in the broader mission to improve roadway safety for all users.”
Con Edison serves more than 3 million customers within New York City and more than 300,000 customers in in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The company’s road safety program assumes all accidents are preventable and focuses on outcome-based metrics. The program also uses communication and awareness, oversight and measurement, rewards and interventions, policies, and expectations to measure performance and improve safety.
Board of directors members are companies that have created safety awareness programs in the workplace and promote a culture of safety.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration serve as federal liaisons.
