The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) will make available more than $21 million in Clean Mobility Program grants.
Proposals are due on Sept. 25.
The program provides funding to community-based organizations, local governments, transit operators, and employers with more than 1,000 employees for demonstration projects that advance micro mobility, ridesharing, and on-demand shared transportation options.
The program will award up to $3 million per project with priority given to projects in disadvantaged communities. Up to $8 million will be set aside for projects located in specific areas of the state.
Proposals must create long-term affordable options, expand access to shared zero-emission transportation options, and be able to continue into the future. Proposals must include site identification and operations, a technical feasibility assessment, project partner identification, community engagement, and a policy and regulatory feasibility assessment. A cost share is required of at least 20 percent of the total project costs.
Eligible technologies include bikes, electric bikes, electric scooters, on-demand electric vehicle ride-hailing, on-demand electric public transit services, and shared electric vehicle options.
NYSERDA will host an informational webinar on Thursday to provide additional explanations on project requirements, solicitation and the application process. A virtual showcase will be held on Aug. 14.
