The South Carolina Department of Transportation recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Dorchester County and Town of Summerville officials to celebrate the completion of the $160 million Berlin G. Myers Parkway Phase III Project.

The project will improve safety, alleviate congestion and improve the flow of traffic. Work began in 2022 and is expected to be complete more than a year ahead of schedule. The parkway will open fully to traffic in the near future.

“Berlin G. Myers Parkway is a vital route for the growing town of Summerville,” Secretary of Transportation Justin Powell said. “We are excited to celebrate this project’s completion ahead of schedule so that we can continue to move people and goods through South Carolina and improve our economy.”

“The completion of the Berlin G. Myers Parkway more than a year ahead of schedule is a testament to what Team South Carolina can achieve when local, state, and federal leaders work together,” South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said. “As South Carolina’s population continues to boom, our infrastructure must keep pace. This project is a great example of the transformative investments we’re making in the Lowcountry and throughout the state to meet that demand.”
