Deleware Gov. Matt Meyer recently swore into office Shanté Hastings as the state’s 12th secretary of transportation.
“Shanté knows how to keep people and goods moving safely across Delaware,” Meyer said. “Her institutional knowledge and expertise will be essential as we invest in Delaware’s infrastructure and continue building bikeable and walkable communities.”
Hastings has worked for the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) since 2000. She holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and has served as the chief engineer and as deputy secretary. She was responsible for implementation of the department’s more than $600 million annual Capital Transportation Program as well as personnel management, legislation, and national transportation policy.
Hastings named Lanie Clymer as deputy secretary of transportation and Mark Luszcz as chief engineer.
Clymer has 25 years of financial management experience in both the private and public sectors, and previously served as DelDOT director of finance where she oversaw the department’s budget. She joined the department in 2007 and previously served as the assistant director of finance.
Luszcz has nearly 30 years’ experience in transportation engineering. He previously served as the DelDOT chief traffic engineer, Division of Transportation Solutions deputy director, deputy director of design, and Operations & Support deputy director.
