Aerospace Industries Association hires senior director of acquisition policy

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), an organization representing the American aerospace and defense industry, recently hired Adam Garnica to be its senior director of acquisition policy.

“The Aerospace Industries Association welcomes Adam Garnica as senior director of acquisition policy with our National Security Policy Division,” Eric Fanning, AIA president and CEO, said. “As AIA continues to enhance our close coordination with our DOD (Department of Defense) and government partners, Adam’s expertise in budget and acquisition regulations will help our members navigate complex dynamics, find creative solutions to acquisition challenges, and reinforce the defense industrial base’s critical role in national security.”

A licensed attorney and government contracts expert, Garnica has extensive budget and acquisition regulations expertise. He previously worked in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering as Acquisition Intelligence Division director. He reported jointly to the Intelligence & Security under secretary and the Acquisition & Sustainment under secretary.

In addition, Garnica served as the special assistant to the assistant secretary of defense for acquisition. He advised the Defense Acquisition Regulations Council on the development and reform of acquisition rules and guidance for the DOD work force and industry.

Garnica holds a master’s degree in bioengineering and attended Cornell Law School.
